Difference between a job and career

I'm not sure where I chanced upon this interesting question and googling it gave me several fresh insights.

Is a career a thought-out and planned series of jobs that are like the well-trodden path, or is it more of the uneven path kind where one jumps from one lily pad to another and the history of lily pad hopping is then considered a career of sorts? Sounds to me like the Singapore Plan vs Dream issue (it's probably me and not by virtue of any proper logical thought).

I'm getting pretty loose at work and spouting nonsense. While I guess the comments are pretty harmless, they're pretty crude and just shows how low class a person I am.

I better watch myself!
