Flabbagasted yet full of admiration

I went into class again and heard a piece of shocking news that happened yesterday.

It is so graphic that I cannot elaborate here, and it is something to do with alcohol. However on one hand I am extremely flabbagasted, yet on the other hand I am full of admiration that they are spending their youth frivolously yet full of a carefree spirit that I yearned to have but sadly missed when it was my turn in life 8 years back. I worry for them for their lack of responsibility as young adults, yet I admire their tenacious and adventurous spirit. It is through them that I remind myself that I must cherish my youth as well at this stage in life, and make every day and moment count.
