Baybeats, Father's Birthday
Yesterday was Dad's 50th birthday! My sister got a fruit cake from Polar thanks to some $10 vouchers that she got during her stint as a Polar cashier at Changi airport a few months back. Although it was a simple affair of light-the-candles-and-blow, it felt very heartwarming as the three of us siblings together with my cousin NS had lots of fun with my camera phone.

Oh a lovey-dovey pose. Aww..

Haha! My brother WS looks so irresistably adorable in this picture! Euke!
After that brief cake-cutting affair, I met YT and we both set off for Baybeats at the Esplanade! I've never attended a music festival before (the closest I've been to such live rock performances was an Avril Lavigne concert in Brisbane) so I was pretty excited about it.

Apparently there're three stages/platforms - the outdoor ones are the chillout section (seated, acoustics) and this other one which we went.

Here's this first band from Perth, Western Australia! I forgot the name though... Calerway! (http://calerway.com/home.htm) The lead singer's a tad handsome, though short (even in the Singaporean sense - he's shorter than me for goodness!) They're pretty good, though it's a little undeserving for them to do the opening act as the crowd hasn't been sufficiently warmed up by then to appreciate their musicianship.

We were standing pretty close to the stage and it was with great disgust when he started throwing out souvenirs and other memorabilia. One of the girls standing in front of me elbowed me as she tried to jump up in an act of futility to grab a yellow shirt. I muttered 'Hope it fits' under my breath when another girl in front got it. (haha sour grapes!) They also threw badge pins too, and one of them hit me squarely on the head. I didn't get any though, and had to rely on his handouts which he distributed some time after the concert. When he was giving out a pink badge and I had my hand outstretched, he went a little sexist and said, "Maybe the pink should go to the girls." and YT got it. Well, I don't mind pink, but I don't think YT will like a pink one, knowing she likes dark colours. Oh well, at least we got a souvenir each! :D

Yeah!!
