Thinking about teaching

Food for thought - how to keep teachers from quitting once they reach their 3 years of teaching bond:

NN says:
yeah, very tired
NN says:
teaching sucks the life force out of me
MC says:
so no go?
NN says:
yeah i think so
NN says:
not now i guess
NN says:
as in i do relish the idea of teaching
NN says:
but then i dunno, but i look at the new birds and then considered the high drop out rate
MC says:
it's an ideal situation. but it never is.
NN says:
then i was thinking maybe should spend my youth on something else
NN says:
can always go back (hopefully)
MC says:
i sometimes think that. one must teach more than one school before concluding ending the career as a teacher.
NN says:
yup
NN says:
shld do i think 2 schools
NN says:
of different kinds yeah
MC says:
yah. if u just tech in barker. then taht's it. can stop teaching for good
NN says:
actually i find it quite a sad thing
as in there's this teacher who's now in her 2nd school and she's taught for 8 years altogether
NN says:
then when i asked her how come teachers can knock off so early whereas a relief like me stays like crazy
NN says:
and that's not forgetting that their workload's heavier thanks to ecas and other admin
NN says:
then according to her she suggests that it's after like 2-3 years that teachers get accustomed to their workload, where they've gone thru 2-3 cycles of the syllabus and more or less mastered the content
NN says:
so they can easily waltz into the class and deliver, as compared to poor dweebs who're either like me or in their beginning years and struggling with everything
MC says:
uy don't need to do lesson prep already mah.
NN says:
yeah like even the worksheets u can work out yourself and dun need answer keys like i do now
NN says:
so end up wow, actually their workload becomes easier
NN says:
so it's actually quite sad to hear that teachers count down to the days when their bonds end, cos if they had stayed then in terms of the delivery they'd find it a piece of cake
MC says:
perhaps. i've got alot of teachers in barker, wanting to quit already
